Krones shared project: new dairy for TINE SA

TINE SA is Norway’s biggest producer and exporter of dairy products. The cooperative is owned by more than 11,000 members, and operates over 30 production facilities in Norway. TINE has now decided to modernise its existing dairy for fresh milk in Bergen, which as from 2019 will be producing fresh milk, cream and fruit juices. It’s been dimensioned for an average throughput of 150,000 litres of fresh milk a day.

Krones won the order for engineering and supplying the entire process technology involved. This includes all systems from milk reception, treatment and storage of the finished products all the way through to supplying the filler. Krones itself will also be providing the dairy’s energy supply, which TINE has planned with state-of-the-art technologies like heat pumps, for highly energy-efficient operation. The dairy’s entire control equipment – except of the filling equipment – is being handled by Krones’ Syskron subsidiary on the basis of the Botec process control system. The process technology itself will be supplied by Milkron as the responsible vendor. This subsidiary was founded in 2016 as the group’s milk expert specifically to plan, design, erect and commission systems, lines or entire factories for the dairy industry in the future.

Krones is able to offer the entire project from a single source, thanks to its multi-capable corporate matrix, also known under the name of “House of Krones”. Here the group synergises its competences in the fields of process, filling and packaging technologies, plus intralogistics, digitalisation and after-sales support.
