A look behind the scenes

You want to experience Krones close up with your fellow-students, see what everyday working at Krones is like and find out what sort of opportunities we offer?

Then visit us at our plant in Neutraubling. Well, simply dropping by is difficult – but there are options: within the framework of an excursion with your university, you can  also take a look at our plant, get to know some of our staff, and gain some insights into interesting topics.

This is what Leipzig University of Applied Sciences did recently!

In September, we organised a day at Krones for 35 students from the third and fifth semesters of the packaging technology degree course there, so that they could get better acquainted with us.

Following a short night and an early start for the students, we began with a welcome in our “Regensburg”  Room and an introduction to our company. In order to keep the students’strength up, after this brief introduction the first stop for the whole group was Krones’ company restaurant for some much-needed refreshment.

They then listened to the first of three planned specialist presentations. An employee from   Corporate Research and Development explained her remit to the students: she works primarily in the field of sustainability, ensuring that Krones products conform to our strategy in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The CSR strategy also includes energy and eco-management at Krones, involving not least the reduction of CO2 emissions arising from staff travel, the optimisation of energy-intensity, and of waste incidence. As a striking example for the improvement of energy- and media-efficiency, in our products, she explained the ongoing “Brewnomic – Brewery of the Future”project. For this purpose, the individual constituents of a brewery have been scrutinised and lastingly improved with the aid of innovations and process optimisation. The result is more than impressive: a brewing power plant.

During a guided tour of our Krones facility and through our halls, the students obtained an initial insight into our history and corporate structure, and the production operations in our plant.

Then came the highlight of the agenda for our visitors from Leipzig: the expert presentation on digital printing by the Managing Director of Dekron – Krones’ subsidiary  for digital decoration technology. With the aid of digital printing from Dekron, an enormous range of different containers, like bottles, cans, or tubes, can be individually printed on. One particular advantage is that highly disparate materials, shapes and structures of the package surface can be used. Since the students and the professor accompanying them had already dealt with this subject at the university, they were particularly interested, and afterwards asked numerous questions about the innovations, thus initiating a subsequent discussion.

At the end of the day, the aspirant packaging technicians had a chance to ask their questions regarding options for joining Krones AG and obtain information on opportunities for further career pathways here in our company.

Towards 4:30 p.m., we said goodbye to the students and professors, confident that we should be seeing or hearing from each other again.
