Our own technical centre for everything to do with beer

Processing special brews, testing new technologies, performing feasibility studies and field tests, training staff and customers – Steinecker will provide all these prerequisites in-house with its Brew Center. “In future, the multifunctional brewery with all its innovations will enable us to reproduce the full range of brewing processes and work with our customers on developing process technology products. This will certainly set us apart from our competitors,” so Heiko Feuring, Head of Business Line Breweries.

The brewhouse as eye-catcher at the heart of the plant

An immediate eye-catcher: Measuring 175 square metres in area and six metres in height, a new building of steel construction with an imposing glass facade is standing opposite the gate behind the car park. The glamorous centre of attention inside will be the brewhouse with a capacity of five hectolitres. The cellar will include six fermenting tanks for five hectolitres and two tanks for 10 hectolitres.

Alongside, 33 square metres were assigned for a representative tasting room with serving counter from where people will have a view through a glass door right into the brewhouse.

The diversity of a complete brewery in the plant

The tour continues from the tasting room to the lab, quality control, utilities, malt treatment, bottling, water treatment systems, warehouse and waste water neutralisation. “You’ll get the full picture of an entire brewery on a reduced scale,” explains Dr. Christian Dörr, Breweries Quotation Process Engineering.

This way, Steinecker can demonstrate its developments not only with reference projects but also with the technical centre. Even tests, that had been performed at Weihenstephan Universitiy or at the customer’s facility, can then be performed in-house. “This makes us much more flexible,” says Dr. Christian Dörr, and Konrad Müller-Auffermann, Head of Breweries Product Development, adds: “Many of our customers are ready for experiments. With us, they can try out many new recipes. We also develop processes for their various raw materials”. The goal is to bind customers even closer to the company.

Staff and customer trainings also make it possible to demonstrate the Botec control options on the line directly. Thanks to the modular component system, line components can be replaced with future new developments.
